Pets add a lot of happiness too our lives. They give us companionship, loyalty, and unconditional love. That is why I find it so disturbing how so many people treat their pets. Basically, pets are treated as mere objects. People leave them at home all day without even considering options like hiring a pet sitter to take care of them. Pet boarding is not just a consideration, it is an essential. Pets have been bred over generations to depend on human companionship, and it should be a two-way street. If we are going to use them for their companionship, we owe them the loyalty of watching over their needs while we are not at home. That is why, whenever I’m going to be gone for more than a few hours, I try to use pet boarding.

Just as with humans a fever will raise the overall temperature to combat infections from bacteria, viruses and ingested toxins, the same is true of dogs. In humans touching the skin will ascertain if the temperature is raised. However, a dog’s temperature is normally 3 degrees above that of a human: somewhere between 37.8°C (100°F) and 39.3°C (102.7°F). So Rover will naturally feel warm; but to a human touch how warm is warm? Your dog is not in a position to speak.

The phone book of course is one resource to turn to but in the age of the Internet, you shouldn’t have to turn to a book to find local services and companies. That’s why I went online to find the local human society in my area. I actually came across a website that has various listings for pet services in and around my town. They even had the listing AND reviews for the local humane society. The site is www.zootoo.com. If you’re ever on the hunt for pet related services, I suggest going to that website first. If you ever go through the shock of seeing your dog dragging his back legs behind him, know that you’re not alone.

This happened to me when my little dog Sammy ruptured a disk the day after Christmas two and a half years ago.

Of course, I took him to the vet right away, but short of surgery, which didn’t end up being much of a viable option, there was nothing to do but try to nurse him at home.

Part of the process of nurturing him back to health involved pet massage. There was no guarantee that Sammy would ever walk again, but the pet massage sure wouldn’t hurt.

However, its immediate success gave her great pleasure and she died in the knowledge that the book had indeed encouraged people to treat animals less cruelly.

We ran a battery of tests on our dog to determine if the heart condition could be managed with meds. The vet gave us an estimated idea for the cost and it was very high.
