Those of us who own a dog know the importance of understanding dog behavior. Our furry friends have the mentality of a 4 or 5 year old for their entire time on this earth. They act on their basic instincts, and unfortunately that is what most often gets them in hot water with their owners. You will find that you can teach old dogs new tricks. Our dogs are a well spring of loyalty, love and never ending devotion. Dogs make wonderful pets, but they all must have training to quell their latent bad dog behavior tendencies. It’s best to start this training at an early age, because these bad habits just become harder to break, down the road. If you are looking to train your dog you might consider using the ‘clicker training’ method, which has recently become popular amongst dog trainers all over the country. In this method the trainer has to make use of a clicker, a tiny plastic box with a metal button which makes a distinctive click sound once the button has been pressed. The training method is simple and is in many ways parallel to the positive training method. Here is what you have to do. Whats that on the leash?! A Chihuahua, a Shih tzu, a Yorkie? No, its my cat! and I’m proud to walk him in his kitty harness with his florescent pink leash. Like many cat fanciers, I felt cruel listening to my cats chatter at the birds outside, exclaiming how lucky they are to have a window between them, or they would be dinner. Well no longer, I’ve decided to take a stand, er a walk. I decided to start walking my cat. I know now that I’m neither crazy(because of walking my cat) nor alone in walking my cat on a leash. My cat who allows me to walk him is primarily an indoor cat, and after I made some slight mods to an existing dog harness and the rest is cat walking history. In my opinion you should get to know kittys actions while walking him for the first time, and if you plan on walking kitty regularly please check with your Vet about immunizations that aren’t normally given to indoor only cats. My park secret is to walk kitty at night when the dog lovers have left for the evening, or early morning before they show up, after all theres no need for fur to fly unnecessarily.

The African gray parrot is quite affectionate in nature and is one of the most talkative, sensitive and intelligent of parrots. As with many birds, they can be snappish if feeling miffed, so the African Gray Parrot may not suit a situation where young children might be bit.

There are two types of African gray parrots, the Congo, which grows up to about 16 inches long, and his smaller cousin, the Timneh, which is just a bit smaller. You can tell the difference between the birds by looking at the beak. The smaller Timneh has an almost beige colored beak, while the Congo’s beak is black. Both have gray feathers and red-tipped tails.

My daughter tells me that she wants to grow up to be a vegetarian so that she can work with animals. I am pretty sure that she means she wants to be a veterinarian, but you just never know with her. I supposed if she was going to work with animals and care for their well being, she may end up being both things, and that clears up some of the confusion. If that is truly what she is going to do, she is going to have to go to college for animal science in order to get anywhere with her career choices.
