Finding the Healthiest Chow for Your Hound

Everyone who has a dog wants to give them the best life they can possibly afford. But with so many variations of dog foods and treats in the market, it isn’t always easy to identify what’s healthy for our dog. Who can possibly feel confident and overwhelm with so many brands that hit the aisles, such as “rich in antioxidants,” “highly digestible,” “Omega-3 fatty acids” and “Ultra Premium Formula” what a confusion, who has time the ingredients on all the dog food available.

What we can do is to conduct a simple dog food comparison to determine which foods best fit our dog’s requirements and our personal schedule. After all, some foods offer much greater convenience than the more natural, less processed types of food which may require freezing, thawing, cooking and preparation.

The vast majority of dog owners go for dry dog food. Between the supermarket and specialty pet stores, owners enjoy many brands to choose from. Dry dog food consists of kibble typically made from one primary ingredient such as chicken, beef or lamb. More specifically, the main ingredient is usually a meat by product that’s been processed, dried and sold in packs or bags for easy dispensing.

So in span of both convenience and nutrition, a premium, natural dog food is one of the best choices to offer your dog, whether off-the-shelf or purchased online.

Climbing and sharpening their claws are favored activities. If you don’t provide them with a cat climbing tree they will use your furniture.

Some Say Cat Behavior Modification Can’t Be Done

Well, they’re wrong! I have a cat named Pepper who I trained. She comes when I call her and knows exactly what furniture she’s allowed on and what furniture is forbidden. For example, she is never allowed on countertops.

I’ve just posted an article with things you can do in your own home toward cat behavior modification.
The key is to never give up and never accept disobedience. If it is important enough to you to be able to train your cat, he or she will eventually accept your authority. It is just a matter of time.

Cat Door Mat

An article about: Cat Door Mat

My sister gave me a cat door mat that was shaped like a cat and was covered in paw prints. There is something about the cat door mat that attracts my Siamese cat. The first time he saw it he rolled on it and lay down and claimed it as his own. When my sister bought the cat door mat she had thought it would look nice on the floor in front of the curio. She was right the…

Funny Dog & Cat Cartoon Products Benefit Animal Causes

People can be so different (and alike) in so many ways but nothing can bring us closer together than a cute puppy or kitty. They seem to have a special spirit with which be an impetus for helping bring people together. I have been an animal owner since I was a kid. I am now half a century old. My feelings about pets have not changed. Like young children, they teach me about unconditional love, something that is often lost in the hustle and bustle world in which we live. They know instinctively how to ground me. That is why, as a cartoonist, I have dedicated a great deal of my work to the animal kingdom; particularly dogs and cats. Though there are many topics with which I deal, from science to relationships, my dog, cat, and other animal ones are the ones of which I am most fond.

However, short of calling carpet cleaners in Orange County every month, I needed to do something. So I read the article “Basic Carpet Cleaning Questions Answered” and got a lot of great carpet cleaning tips, without having to pay for them.

Easing The Transition Of An Adopted Cat To A New Home

Adopting a cat is a big decision. There are some things you need to be aware of when you are ready to bring your adopted cat home. They say cats don’t need as much attention as dogs, but I have to disagree. You may not have to take your cat outside to go the bathroom, but a lot of preparation is needed to make sure your cat successfully makes the transition to becoming a member of your family. I have organized the top 5 things you need to know when bringing your cat home for the first time.

4 Steps For Effective Cat Litter Training

Training your cat to use a litter box is an essential part of being a cat owner. Without this your furry little pal will make a mess of your home and can grow up ignoring your commands and be generally bad behaved. By training your kitten to do something as small as using the litter box, you can make sure that you and your pet have a long and happy relationship.

Although cat tricks are not commonly taught to most household cats, they can be as amazing as teaching a cat to use the toilet and to play fetch has been reported. Although most cat owners are just happy with a friendly cat that knows where to do its business and that doesn’t rip the sofa to shreds!

Aside from the obvious things to teach your furry little friend, you may wish to consider behavioral type training in which you allow your animal to socialize with others even though you do not already have other pets in the home. This allows life to be much easier if you should decide to get a new kitten at some point of if you have any intentions of getting a dog as well.

While you may think that you have to give up your special relationship with your cat or dog you really do have other options. There are pet friendly rentals that will welcome you and your animal as well.

Cat Behavior Modifications

Some cats claw things. That is just the way that it is. They have the urge to do this, and you are probably not going to be able to use cat behavior modification to stop them from doing it. You can show them where it is acceptable to do this, however. You have to have something in the home that is okay for them to scratch. Put this where they can get to it, or even near where they have already been scratching. For this type of pet behavior modification, that might be all it takes, but not always.

Using A Clicker To Train Your Dog

If you are looking to train your dog you might consider using the ‘clicker training’ method, which has recently become popular amongst dog trainers all over the country. In this method the trainer has to make use of a clicker, a tiny plastic box with a metal button which makes a distinctive click sound once the button has been pressed. The training method is simple and is in many ways parallel to the positive training method. Here is what you have to do. Decide on a certain behavior which you want to teach or reinforce your dog to do. A number of behaviors/actions come naturally to the dog like sitting, eating, standing, barking etc. and these need just to be reinforced so that your dog knows when you want him to do what. Various other actions like acting dead, shaking hands, rolling over etc. do not come naturally to the dog and need to be taught. Clicker training can be used to do both.

Automatic Pet Feeders are Very Practical

Having a pet in the family seems as common in the United States as having children.

In fact there are more homes with pets than there are with children because of the number of people that keep animals once they are done raising children and because of the number of young single people that adopt a pet. We spend millions of dollars annually to care for our animal friends.
There are many exotic pets that people have tried, but by far the most popular pets continue to be the dog and cat.

If you want to learn more infos about automatic pet feeders, stop by and read my article.

There are Few Things That People Fawn Over as Much as Their Pets

The pet industry makes millions of dollars annually from people wanting the very best for their animal of choice.

In the past few years there has been any increase in people owning more exotic pets, but the majority of people still own the traditional domesticated dog or cat.

Marketers of pet paraphernalia seem to come out with different merchandise each year to entice pet owners to spend more money.

Freak on a leash?

Whats that on the leash?! A Chihuahua, a Shih tzu, a Yorkie? No, its my cat! and I’m proud to walk him in his kitty harness with his florescent pink leash. Like many cat fanciers, I felt cruel listening to my cats chatter at the birds outside, exclaiming how lucky they are to have a window between them, or they would be dinner. Well no longer, I’ve decided to take a stand, er a walk. I decided to start walking my cat. I know now that I’m neither crazy(because of walking my cat) nor alone in walking my cat on a leash. My cat who allows me to walk him is primarily an indoor cat, and after I made some slight mods to an existing dog harness and the rest is cat walking history. At the website walkyourcat.com there is a neat book about… you guessed it walking your cat, it seems pretty cool especially for those of you with indoor cats like me. In my opinion you should get to know kittys actions while walking him for the first time, and if you plan on walking kitty regularly please check with your Vet about immunizations that aren’t normally given to indoor only cats. If you live in a metro area like most of us do try to find a nice park to walk at, reducing the risk of broken glass and other hazards. My park secret is to walk kitty at night when the dog lovers have left for the evening, or early morning before they show up, after all theres no need for fur to fly unnecessarily.

If You Are Caring For Kittens

There is a good reason that most kids are given pets nowadays. If you have never raised a living thing before, you can’t possibly imagine the responsibility.

You certainly can’t raise a child before you have raised a kitten, puppy, or something else of that nature. However, even with a kitten, there is a great bit of responsibility. A good pet store will tell you all about proper cat care. They will tell you when to feed them, how to train them, what the different sounds they make mean, and all the rest. Even so, caring for kittens is bound to bring up some issues you have never considered before.

This is especially true if you have newborn kittens. People who really care for kittens don’t recommend adopting them before a certain age, but in reality they are often given away almost as soon as their eyes open. In these situations, caring for kittens can be especially difficult.

Newborn kittens are prone to get diseases. They are emotionally and physically very fragile, and need to be protected from any kind of shock. Older pets, children, and even family members who mean well can do irreparable harm to these young animals.
