Everyone who has a dog wants to give them the best life they can possibly afford. But with so many variations of dog foods and treats in the market, it isn’t always easy to identify what’s healthy for our dog. Who can possibly feel confident and overwhelm with so many brands that hit the aisles, such as “rich in antioxidants,” “highly digestible,” “Omega-3 fatty acids” and “Ultra Premium Formula” what a confusion, who has time the ingredients on all the dog food available.

What we can do is to conduct a simple dog food comparison to determine which foods best fit our dog’s requirements and our personal schedule. Cats love to climb, it’s as natural and essential to their happiness as eating, drinking and sleeping! Cats, being cats, spend their days amusing themselves with whatever shenanigans they can manage. Well, they’re wrong! I have a cat named Pepper who I trained. She comes when I call her and knows exactly what furniture she’s allowed on and what furniture is forbidden. For example, she is never allowed on countertops.

I’ve just posted an article with things you can do in your own home toward cat behavior modification.
The key is to never give up and never accept disobedience. If it is important enough to you to be able to train your cat, he or she will eventually accept your authority. It is just a matter of time.

They seem to have a special spirit with which be an impetus for helping bring people together. I have been an animal owner since I was a kid. I am now half a century old. My feelings about pets have not changed. Like young children, they teach me about unconditional love, something that is often lost in the hustle and bustle world in which we live. They know instinctively how to ground me. That is why, as a cartoonist, I have dedicated a great deal of my work to the animal kingdom; particularly dogs and cats. Training your cat to use a litter box is an essential part of being a cat owner. Some cats claw things. That is just the way that it is. They have the urge to do this, and you are probably not going to be able to use cat behavior modification to stop them from doing it. You can show them where it is acceptable to do this, however. You have to have something in the home that is okay for them to scratch. Put this where they can get to it, or even near where they have already been scratching. For this type of pet behavior modification, that might be all it takes, but not always.

If you are looking to train your dog you might consider using the ‘clicker training’ method, which has recently become popular amongst dog trainers all over the country. In this method the trainer has to make use of a clicker, a tiny plastic box with a metal button which makes a distinctive click sound once the button has been pressed. The training method is simple and is in many ways parallel to the positive training method. Here is what you have to do. Decide on a certain behavior which you want to teach or reinforce your dog to do. A number of behaviors/actions come naturally to the dog like sitting, eating, standing, barking etc. and these need just to be reinforced so that your dog knows when you want him to do what. Various other actions like acting dead, shaking hands, rolling over etc. do not come naturally to the dog and need to be taught. Clicker training can be used to do both.

Whats that on the leash?! A Chihuahua, a Shih tzu, a Yorkie? No, its my cat! and I’m proud to walk him in his kitty harness with his florescent pink leash. Like many cat fanciers, I felt cruel listening to my cats chatter at the birds outside, exclaiming how lucky they are to have a window between them, or they would be dinner. Well no longer, I’ve decided to take a stand, er a walk. I decided to start walking my cat. I know now that I’m neither crazy(because of walking my cat) nor alone in walking my cat on a leash. My cat who allows me to walk him is primarily an indoor cat, and after I made some slight mods to an existing dog harness and the rest is cat walking history. In my opinion you should get to know kittys actions while walking him for the first time, and if you plan on walking kitty regularly please check with your Vet about immunizations that aren’t normally given to indoor only cats. If you live in a metro area like most of us do try to find a nice park to walk at, reducing the risk of broken glass and other hazards. My park secret is to walk kitty at night when the dog lovers have left for the evening, or early morning before they show up, after all theres no need for fur to fly unnecessarily.

There is a good reason that most kids are given pets nowadays. If you have never raised a living thing before, you can’t possibly imagine the responsibility.

You certainly can’t raise a child before you have raised a kitten, puppy, or something else of that nature. However, even with a kitten, there is a great bit of responsibility. Newborn kittens are prone to get diseases. They are emotionally and physically very fragile, and need to be protected from any kind of shock. Older pets, children, and even family members who mean well can do irreparable harm to these young animals.
