Where I live, there are many different dog-boarding kennels to choose from, and I had no idea what to look for when I was boarding my pup. I was in a panic though, and about to depart on a vacation. There is a place for boarding dogs down the street, and they seemed clean enough and efficient. I paid them a quick visit and chatted to the workers, and they all seemed nice. I wasn’t allowed to go back to see where the dogs where kept, and looking back this should have raised my suspicions, but at the time I was naive. Just what is Boston Terrier Rescue?

This is an association devoted to housing abandoned or unwanted Boston terriers. They set emergency rescues and conducts appropriate adoption of these terriers to their permanent homes.

However, the network does not house Boston terriers that are already in poor health, aggressive, old, and/or are disease-carriers since they will not be even suitable for adoption afterwards. The least the BTR will do is to advise the owners of such terriers on better options.

Some shelters can only keep animals for a few days and then they are put to sleep. There are many animals for adoption out there and only so many people to adopt them. If you want a new pet, please consider getting one of the animals for adoption from a shelter. There are far more pets out there than there are families looking for one to take home.

The cost of purebred cat adoption varies dependant on the breed and age, however costs may be as low as $75 for an older purebred cat, and only $150 for a young cat. The adoption fee typically includes medical costs such as vaccinations, Feline Aides (FIV) and Feline Leukemia (FELV) tests, a health examination to insure the cat is in good general health, and if the cat is over six months of age, it is already spayed or neutered. Other financial benefits may include free breed specific information and tips, an optional free membership into the breed rescue organization, or a free subscription to the organizations newsletter.

The cost of purebred dog adoption
varies dependent on the breed and age. Shar-Pei and Golden Retrievers typically cost about $250 to adopt but if the animal is over 8 years of age the cost may be as little as $150. This is quit a bargain considering most often these dogs originally sold for $250-$500, have had $300-$500 worth of medical care including shots and testing, and adult pets are already spayed or neutered. It can be kinda tough to find local pet services around you. The phone book of course is one resource to turn to but in the age of the Internet, you shouldn’t have to turn to a book to find local services and companies. That’s why I went online to find the local human society in my area. I actually came across a website that has various listings for pet services in and around my town. They even had the listing AND reviews for the local humane society. The site is www.zootoo.com. If you’re ever on the hunt for pet related services, I suggest going to that website first. There are millions of us who own pets and believe ourselves to be responsible pet owners. But most of us do not support the humane society or the local animal shelter. This is the responsible thing to do as a pet owner.

I am not suggesting that every pet owner needs to go adopt a pet from the shelter, but a monetary donation is a great way to insure that these programs can keep going. Also if you are a pet owner that breeds your pet, make sure that the people who adopt a pet from you are going to be responsible and will provide a good home to the animal.
