I’m looking for a new bedding for my monitor lizard. He don’t seem to like the bedding that he’s in right now. I knew ball pythons could be picky, but I had no idea that my lizard would be so fickle. The first bedding I got jumped in price, so I got this one and he avoids walking on it as much as possible, which is fun to watch, but I’d rather just get him one he’s happy with before he hurts himself. I checked out the detail on reptile habitats on this one website and there are reviews, which are really good because you can see how other pets liked certain brands of bedding and other habitat stuff.

I just got my first gecko and I’m pretty excited. I’ve named him Aussie after the one in the commercials (at least I think its Australian!) and he’s got a nice little cage and food, etc. I did want to find a mealworm supply that would allow me to get him more food at once and spend less time visiting the store. I found out on this site that you can buy mealworms in a big bag and keep them in the fridge. You just take them out every once and awhile so they can wake up and eat and then you put them back in the fridge.

My goldfish are 15 years old. Goldfish, at least not aquarium goldfish, aren’t supposed to live that long, but mine just keep going. It could be the food, or the fact that I only clean the tank once a month, but it could also have a lot to do with the equipment I buy. I invested in good tank and quality components. ZooToo wasn’t around when I first bought the tank, but now I look to them when it’s time to replace a component. Aquarium pumps just aren’t as well made as they used to be. ZooToo’s reviews help me find the good ones among a batch of not-so-good ones. My fish are living proof that quality matters.

My wife loves fish ponds, so we added one when we remodeled the backyard. Unfortunately, it was a dud. The fish quickly died and it kept growing over with algae. Nothing seemed to work until I stumbled upon ZooToo’s reviews and detailed descriptions of products for fish ponds. I finally found an algae control chemical that worked for our pond – once I followed a reviewer’s advice to use a few bottles. I also bought some excellent test kits so I can keep the water balanced. We’ve got new fish now and they’re thriving. My wife is thrilled with her fish pond now.

Have you made your 2006 vacation plans? You may want to add Atlanta, Georgia to your list of places to see. The incredible Georgia Aquarium said to be the largest in the world debut November 23, 2005. The aquarium was crafted to contain 8 million gallons of water and 100,000 fish as compared to Chicago’s Shed Aquarium which has 5 million gallons and approximately 20,000 fish.

Of course, a water garden is most appealing when it contains fish. Goldfish, such as shubunkin, common goldfish and wakin, are very popular. Koi are very attractive and some varieties are expensive. Other choices include minnows, golden orfe and golden tench. Most fish survive happily without heating but a heater may be needed in particularly cold places during winter, just to stop the water from freezing up.

Some dedicated aquarists have been known to construct custom aquaria of up to several thousand U.S. gallons, which is a large fish tank, at great effort and expense.

One of the most fascinating things I ever saw when I was a child was a large fish tank at our local zoo. I was mesmerized by the colorful sea life swimming around the magnificent glass container. The large fish tank continued to be a favorite visiting spot of mine at the zoo for years and years to follow.

I think that the appeal of the large fish tank lay in the fact that I love water. I love everything about water (well, except the possibility of drowning in it).
