Dog Grooming School, Only If You Love Dogs!
Usually a professional dog groomer starts by taking courses at a dog grooming school or vocational school.
This course is one that really needs hands on training, normally under the supervision of a trainer. Working on a live pet, learning about the various needs of the animals that are met by grooming, represent essential stages for the creation of skills. Another skill worth cultivating is the interaction between you, the groomer, and your human client, the owner of the dog you are working on, always keeping in mind the way pet owners often feel about their canine or feline companions.
The majority of dog grooming programs, either on campus or home study, are structured so as to take no more than six or eight weeks to complete. The program should be accredited by an official institution, and it is a good idea to check for the accreditation with the Better Business Bureau. There are colleges, trade schools, vocational schools or community colleges that recognize the education achieved in a dog grooming school or the certification following a distance learning program.
For the right person, a career in dog grooming can be extremely fulfilling.
