Bird Watching All Year Long!

Have you ever wondered where the birds really go in the winter? I know that some of them migrate, but if you live in the north, you still see plenty of birds out on the really nice days. In fact if you have a bird feeder or bird bath set up in your yard, you will see them more often than not during the winter months. If you keep the feeder full of food, they will keep coming around. They may even come to depend on that food source.

The same goes for a bird bath. Birds have their routines just like any other living thing. If they are used to visiting your bird bath, they will keep coming as long as there is water in it. Some people that really enjoy watching birds, squirrels, and other little animals have purchased a heated bird bath. This keeps the water at around 40 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit all year long, no matter how cold it gets outside. Some are even rated for -20 degrees, which is amazing.

If you would like to practice your bird watching hobby all year long, you should consider getting a heated bird bath and keep that feeder full of seeds all year long. If you have never done it, just take some time to relax and really observe these little creatures the next time you get the chance. It may be one of the most relaxing times that you have had in a long time. In this busy world that we live in, we need to just sit back and take it easy for a few minutes each day. I can’t think of a better way than observing nature.
