House Training a Dog is such an important issue for a dog owner that every little tip is viewed to be extremely helpful.

The first step in dog training is to potty train him. Some pet owners see this training as a hassle and some accept it as a challenge. I have come to accept it as just a part of having a pet. Remember though, until your Dog has been fully potty trained keep him under a strict watch. Do not let him roam around the house unattended.

There are some very important things you need to know before you actually start house training a dog. I will elaborate on these below:

You need to understand your dog’s body language. Watch for signs that will indicate to you when your pet wants to eliminate. If you own puppies, remember that they need to go potty at fairly frequent intervals such as; as soon as they wake up, after short naps, after play-time, after meals, before and after being crated and finally, before going to bed for the night.

Take your Dog for walks at the time that he usually does his potty. Take him out to the yard in the place that you desire he answers nature’s call. Praise your Dog after he eliminates in the desired location. Some Dog owners even give treats to their dogs. If you do this, remember to give the treat every time he does it right. He will relate the rewards to his having “done it right” and zero in on the spot where you want him to defecate regularly.

With time, you can try signal training. This is so that you know when your doggie wants to go. You can hang a bell at his level near the door and teach him to push it with his nose or pat it with his paw on his way out.

Use a crate. A crate-trained Dog is usually very happy to get his own den. The advantage of crating is that dogs do not usually soil the place where they sleep. So, he will naturally not eliminate inside the crate.

Use positive reinforcements while house training a dog. Do not scold or hit them as you will gain nothing by this action. Your pet will only associate punishment with your return from outside. If you catch him in the act, a stern ‘NO’ or ‘FREEZE’ will do.

Be prepared to return to a soiled home if you are keeping your Dog home alone for more than 4 hours as separation anxiety is quite common among home – alone dogs.

Accidents will happen. It is unusual for a trained adult Dog to work against its house training. But medical problems or health disorders may lead to sudden accidents.

If you are patient and are ready to accept that house training a dog takes time, even months sometimes, you will end up having a good housetrained Dog.

By allowing the puppy we bring home as our new pet, to socialize with other socialized dogs and puppies of the same age, their dog training biting, can be picked up where they left off, when we seperated them from their litter mates and natural social pack.

Puppies love to roll, tumble and play with each other. During these playing sessions, they bite each other every where and anywhere, because that is their only means of ‘touching’ or ‘holding’ or ‘reaching out’ to each other. This is where they learn to inhibit their biting. This is where they learn to control themselves.

If they are too rough or rambunctious, they will soon find out through the reaction of the other dogs and puppies they are playing with. This is their natural training ground, and it is something we humans cannot accomplish that easily. They learn to inhibit their biting through trial and error. They learn from their own experience with other members of their social pack.

If we do not provide for this to happen, then we have to acquire the skill of dog training biting, and train the puppy ourselves, else have a problematic pet on our hands.

Have you ever assumed that because a product is advertise it is safe? This regrettably is false. There are lawsuits before the courts on a weekly basis because of some of the poor quality things that are on the market. My husband had a very bad experience with a poor product that almost cost him the life of his dog.

About seven months prior to our marriage, my husband bought a black lab puppy. My husband is a duck hunter and was raised in a family that always owned a lab. The puppy was very smart and so his training went quite smoothly. We did not have very much money when we were first married and we were saving for a home. We were always looking for ways to save money. When the puppy has to be a year old, we switched it from puppy chow to adult dog food. We were feeding him food that we bought from a large farm supplier.

A dog who has just won a fight with another dog will occasionally make amends by rolling over on its back in order to demonstrate that it doesn’t want to totally dominate the other creature. Sometimes when dogs are wrestling, you also see these sorts of animal behaviors. A bigger dog will roll over on his back for a smaller one as a way to keep the little dog playing. In our family we have always had dogs and so when I got married and had my first child I felt it necessary to get a dog too! Our new addition arrived the other day and he is cute and cuddly but very hard work! It was always my mother that took care of our dogs so I quickly realized that I had a lot to learn. Amongst other things what is the best dog food to buy? When I went shopping for it there are so many varieties in the pet food aisle of the supermarket! it’s quite confusing! I decided to come home and go on line to look for a company that could actually deliver to my home as the most economical way of buying dog food appears to be in large quantities and struggling already with a young child it is one less thing to think about!
