A new puppy is always an adjustment for any family, but if you already have other pets, it takes even more care. Any time you have pets that are already established in your home, they will be territorial at first when a new dog joins the household. Planning and attention to each pet’s needs, however, will soon make them the best of friends.

All animals feel that they are part of the family “pack,” and that feeling means they will instinctively want to protect the family and their territory. You will need to establish to your current pets that the puppy is now a member of the family, while making sure the puppy understands the rules in his new home.

Puppies are so cute, but they also love to dig in the dirt. More often than not, they dig where you don’t really want them to.

I posted an article that outlines some steps you can take to deter your digging puppy from digging in the wrong places.

If you’ve worked the ground to this delectable state, you need to install a fence of chicken wire around it, to a height of at least three feet. The chicken wire should be buried in the ground about a foot below the surface. Should your digging puppy attempt to dig under, the wire will make it less attractive as their paws and claws encounter this hindrance.

Dog flatulence or farting is a common problem with dogs. The cure is fairly simple. Smack the hell out of your dog when it farts. Just kidding. The best method is to buy more expensive dog food and make sure that your dog eats slower. Then you should be able to cure dog flatulence and enjoy a much better smelling living area. Well, they’re wrong! I have a cat named Pepper who I trained. She comes when I call her and knows exactly what furniture she’s allowed on and what furniture is forbidden. For example, she is never allowed on countertops.

I’ve just posted an article with things you can do in your own home toward cat behavior modification.
The key is to never give up and never accept disobedience. If it is important enough to you to be able to train your cat, he or she will eventually accept your authority. It is just a matter of time.
