Minnesota tourism plans for pets
The department of western Minnesota tourism is holding a “Bring your pet on vacation†event this year. During the week long affair all of the motels on the western side of the state have agreed to adopt a pet friendly policy that allows pets of all types to stay in the room with their owners. In addition to that the department plans to have several pet run areas set up and running. These will consist of nothing more than a fenced in grassy area designated by sign. Some will be set up as dog parks where the dogs and owners can socialize. In separate fenced in areas there will be large sandboxes built. This will be used as a giant cat box. There will be several layers of a fine mesh screen put on the bottom of the box and then it will be filled with sand. At the end of the day a shaker will be attached to the sandbox as the screen is lifted out. The screen will be lifted, folded with it’s contents inside, and disposed of. The next day the next screen will be treated the same way. It is hoped that this method will help contain the odor and allow a new set of cats to use the sandbox the next day.
