For some dog owners, one unexpected facet of their dogs behavior may be Coprophagia. In laymans terms, this means your dog is eating its own excrement.

It is quite normal for mother dogs to eat the stools of their babies in order to maintain a clean environment. Plus, engaging in coprophagia is a protective instinct. The mother dog is attempting to get rid of scents that might entice predator animals from attacking or killing her young. Young dogs may learn feces eating behavior from watching their mother. Or, dogs might learn this practice from watching other dogs that already exhibit it.

The African gray parrot is quite affectionate in nature and is one of the most talkative, sensitive and intelligent of parrots. They can acquire a vocabulary of hundreds of words, as well as some very distinctive and expressive sounds. The average lifespan of a domesticated African gray parrot is about 50 years! I guess a lot of people would say the perfect home pets are the ones also regarded as mans best friend. So is a dog the best home pet or would you go for a cat? Have you ever heard of the one bite rule?

It’s the legal principal that a dog owner is not liable if their dog bites and injures somebody unless the owner had prior knowledge of their dog’s viscous propensities.

The breed of the animal is not important. Can you believe that?

So if you own a Pit Bull who practically tears the arm off some poor kid you’re not liable as the dog’s owner if your pet Pit Bull had never bitten anyone ever before. However, if you own a Shitsu you can be liable if that animal injures someone if it had previously bitten someone before.

I didn’t know any of these rules until recently when my dog bit my son’s friend on the leg which led to a nasty scar. I had to find an attorney because I was afraid of getting sued. I live in Long Island, New York so I went online to find an attorney. I searched for “personal injury attorneys long island” and found a lawyer who explained it all to me.

I was relieved to say the least to know that I was not liable. However, I will be if Brutus ever feasts on somebody’s leg again.

If you’ve ever tried to clean your own tile, you know that it can be difficult, especially if your pet has used it as an outhouse. If you don’t use enough cleaning solution, the tile doesn’t get clean or disinfected. If you use too much the sealant comes off of the tile and more stains and smells can absorb in the future. For years I cleaned my tile myself, until my Orange County carpet cleaning company said they could do it for me each time they came out. Now, I just clean up the stains and spots on tile.
