Our family is in and out a lot, and there are times when we need to find someone to feed our cat while we’re gone. This is not always easy, as it seems that everyone else in our neighborhood stays pretty busy as well. There have been times we’ve had to take her away from home to stay with someone because we couldn’t find a sitter nearby. This is hard on our cat, especially. Although our dog does quite well, our cat pretty much hates vehicle travel. But, there are times when we have no choice, and so I have been wondering if one of the newer auto pet feeders would be the answer to this. Still, I have some reservations about them. For instance, what if they stop working while we’re away?

I guess my biggest concern is simply the question of how reliable auto pet feeders are? It’s one thing if the timer on your dishwasher fails to come on - so you come home to dirty dishes.
