Dog Halloween Tip

Finding Pet Friendly Apartments Can Be A Challenge

I was recently searching for a pet friendly apartment in Los Angeles and found it to be a significant challenge.  I have a friendly cat named Boots who doesn’t do much but lay around the house.  The number of pet friendly apartments in Los Angeles was very small and required a great deal of searching.  I was primarily looking for something in the North Santa Monica Bay area (Santa Monica, Venice, Marina Del Rey) or West Hollywood.  Another part of the problem is the exorbitant pet deposits that many apartment complexes want for tenants with pets.  While the risk of problems and damage from my cat is much less than tenants with dogs, the apartment management companies see no distinction.  Rent in Los Angeles is already so high that I really had a tough time paying extra for a pet deposit and some of the apartments even wanted a monthly amount as “pet rent.”

I eventually found an apartment in Brentwood, though I decided not to let the property manager know that I have a cat.  The building is smaller and I figure the risk was low so I went ahead and leased the apartment without mentioning my cat.  So far, as I expected, I haven’t had any problems.  The only people who know I even have a cat are those that come into my apartment so my neighbors and the property manager don’t have any idea and I figure they don’t need to know if my cat isn’t causing a problem.  I thought I would share my experience for other pet owners in Los Angeles who may be struggling with the same issue.  I am an honest person by nature and don’t like deceiving people, but I can live with a little lie of commission considering the alternatives.  While this method certainly wouldn’t work for someone with a dog, cat owners may want to keep this in mind.

Getting through the Wedding of a Lifetime

A wedding can be a hard time and a tough event to plan. Using a printable wedding planner. A good planner will help you anticipate every detail of the main event. Checking on quotes for cakes, churches and stationary can be daunting. A good planner will help you choose the best value and let you concentrate on choosing the right details to make your wedding a success.

Dog Food Choices

Dog food may be labeled as complete and balanced if it meets the standards set by the Association of American Feed Control Officials. These standards were formulated by panels of canine and feline nutrition experts. Dog food is certified by meeting published standards for content, or by passing feeding trials. Keep in mind that the standards set only minimums and maximums. Commercial foods are designed to be adequate for the average dog.

Dog Food: Understanding Ingredients

A good dog food for your dog meets with a specific, high quality ingredient base that provides a high level of optimum nutrition for your pet. Dog food ingredients are selected based on their quality, and are human grade, (which HealthyPetNet uses) meaning that they are also used for human consumption. Usually a greater price tag goes along with the purchase of premium dog food as the cost to find, evaluate and test a high quality ingredient can be more expensive, and because of this, some dog food manufacturers substitute quality for quantity and opt for the cheap alternative.

They do this because they know that the uneducated public will, often times, opt to buy the cheaper alternative when given the choice. Also, it is more convenient to purchase your dog’s food as your buying your own groceries, so purchasing your dog’s food at the grocery store just makes sense right?

Wrong! We all want our beloved pets to live a long and healthy life. Holistic health care requires us to understand that everything we do has an effect on our pets’ lives – there’s no aspect that should be overlooked.

How to Ensure Your New Kitty Has Good Manners

Now that you have brought home that new, lovable kitten, you need to learn how to teach your cat good manners. The process has to begin with you being in control from day one. You need a consistent approach to avoid confusing your new pet. By setting the proper boundaries, from the beginning, you and your kitty cat will have a fun long life together.

Dog Treats – Give Sparingly And Choose Wisely

Use Treats As Treats! And Make Sure They Are Healthy Treats.

Don’t just give your canine buddy “junk food”.

It likely sounds incredibly simple. Treats should be given as treats, not regular staples in the dog’s diet. The fact is that many people give their pets too many treats. All animals can have treats unless the vet says otherwise, but you have to give this to them sparingly.

Giving them too many treats can cause them to shy away from foods that they need in their diet. If they are filled up on treats, will they eat the nutritionally balanced food that you are given them as well? Chances are they will not.

In addition, most treats designed for pets are not healthy options in the least. Unless you make sure that you get your dog healthy treats. Most are filled with fats and other products that can easily cause the pet to become overweight. Don’t get these!

Instead of giving treats on a regular basis as a diet element, use treats for training purposes, for distraction from nail cutting and even as a way to reward your pet. Just limit the amount.

Finding the Best Birch Bird House

A birch bird house is a nice choice for a garden. Birch wood is a close-grained hardwood and is hard enough to offer good protection from predators. It also takes stains and paints extremely well so you can easily color customize your bird house specifically for your garden.

Zoo Animals as Pets?

Perhaps you can’t have a pet at home, but you really want one.  The solution may be to “adopt” a zoo animal in a sense.  You can help to support the animal at the zoo, volunteer to help with things that need to be done or learn all you can and then volunteer to teach others about the zoo and what it has to offer.

Just think of yourself as the “adopted” parent of special animal, maybe a big cat or something like a parrott.  You could tell all your friends about your new “pet”.

You could check with the zoo in your area like the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines.  They will probably be glad for the offer of help.

Are Lawn Diseases Dangerous to Your Pets?

Most people spend a lot of time and thought taking care of their pets, but probably few consider the dangers of lawn diseases to their pets. One such disease is a red thread lawn fungus which can seriously affect the allergies of any of your outdoor pets. Red thread is a disease that produces a redish/pink tinge on grass and is very common where there are cooler temperatures mixed with moisture. It takes some diligence to get rid of red thread, but it can be done and will hopefully spare your pet of any unpleasantness.

Caring for your animals

Keeping your dog or cat exercised can be quite a challenge if you work as many hours as I do.  After a long day at work and then a long commute, often the first thing on your mind is relaxing on the couch, not going for a walk.  That is the reason people should consider employing a pet-walker.  Having a pet walker on call is like using a printable wedding planner – it just makes good sense.  If $20 can make both you and your animal happier, then that’s money well spent.

Mollies Make Great Fish Tank Pets

Mollies are an easy to care for aquarium fish.  In the same family as swordtails, guppies and platies, they bear live fish babies as opposed to laying eggs.  This makes them easy for anyone to breed and, thus, beginning aquarists who want to try their hand at breeding fish.
Mollies should be kept in a tank that has at least 15 gallons of water.  Make sure there is a good heater and gravel at the bottom.  The water should be between 70 degrees and 82 degrees.  Mollies are interesting because they can live in freswater or saltwater in your freshwater aquarium, you might want to add 1 tbsp of aquarium salt per 5 gallons of water.

Presents For Kids Why Not Make It A Brand New Puppy

It really isn’t hard to find presents for kids. Children are normally assertive on when it comes to knowing and asking for what they want unlike lots of adults. Have you ever noticed children usually months before you even begin browsing for Christmas presents for them, they start dropping some very subtle hints in relation to the presents that they want. Occasionally, their choice is the newest computer game. Other times, it is a brand new puppy, a radio controlled car, a bike, or one of many other trends or toys that have hit the market. All the same numerous experts on parenting consider that you ought not to give your child exactly what gift they ask for. What might be a lot better is rather than give you child the latest hit gadget or all the brand new toys that will fit in the Christmas stocking why not choose a present for kids that is unconventional – one that provides them a chance to grow and learn. Another option is to choose a brand new puppy that will provide your child with love and friendship and they can both grow together.

Dog Halloween Costumes

Have you thought about dressing your family pet up in a pet Halloween costume this Halloween? Halloween costumes for dogs seems an odd idea, but there are good reasons why a dog Halloween costume makes sense. Your cute family dog in costume accompanying your children out trick or treating is sure to attract attention and improve the “loot” of candies and gifts. And having the dog along in the darkened streets on Halloween evening can only help keep your family safer.

Aquarium Snails Are Fun Fish Tank Pets

Aquarium snails make unique fish tank pets.  To some, they add interest and fun.  But if they are unwanted, they can be big pests.  You can go to the pet store and buy colorful snails for your tank, but sometimes they get in there by mistake – usually on fish tank plants and and if you see them in your tank, you might wonder where they come from.
There are different kinds of snails that live in the aquarium.  Some eat plants so you will need to be careful of your aquarium plants.  You want to be sure your snails are compatible with your fish, so you’ll want to stick to fish like danios, guppies and tetras. On the other hand, if you are trying to get rid of snails then put some loaches in your tank!

Something about Dog Adoption

Paloma is a runner. She loves to run. She does not run anywhere specifically, mind you, she just enjoys the event. Sometimes she gets to run in wide-open spaces, like at the park, sometimes she runs alongside her mom’s bike, and occasionally she just runs back plus forth through the house. To her, it does not much matter, just as long as she gets to run. The way her life come into being, however, it was possible that she might never have gotten the opportunity.

Paloma is a one-year-old half English setter/half English pointer mix. Her name, which is Spanish for “dove,” was bestowed upon her because as a very young puppy, she was entirely white. The result of an accidental breeding between two show dogs, Paloma and her six sisters were unwanted and unexpected by the owners of both parent dogs. Fortunately, all seven dogs made their progress to a pointer rescue shelter, and have since all found happy homes.

Paloma’s chronicle is not a one off. Thousands of dogs across the country go unadopted and are in need of rescuing. Often these animals spend the rest of their lives in shelters, colloquially known as “the pound.” Those cannot be adopted are euthanized. The reasons these dogs land up in shelters vary. Some of them were bought as Christmas presents for a child, but soon the parents had second thoughts as it became clear that the puppy could be more trouble than they anticipated. Others ran away and were picked up by the local human society or animal control, but went unclaimed by their owners. Still others had to be given up thanks to their owner’s allergies or other health problems. Yet most of these Dogs Waiting for Adoption still have plenty of years of affection and companionship left in them, and would love nothing more than to be taken in by someone who will love and care for them.

Pets are People Too!

Pets are people too is the way a huge number of travelers feel, and rightfully so!  When you are visiting central Iowa you will be pleased with all of the locations, hotels, parks and other outdoor venues, that will allow you to bring your pet with you.

Everyone that has a pet feels that they are special, and to them they are, so taking them along on a trip to visit Iowa is just a natural occurance.

There are hotels that are thoughtful enough to have canine packages, including things like a water bowl, chew bone and maybe even a sleeping mat for them to enjoy.  Occassionally these are included in the cost of the room so you can take them with you when you check out.  Other places have green space dedicated to walking your pet, letting them get some exercise along with doing necessary work.  If you ask, the hotel will give you a pair of gloves and a plastic bag to clean up the area before you take your pet back in the hotel.  It is a thoughtful thing to do, keeping the area clean for the next pet owner that wants to have a neat place to walk their pet.

There usually is an additional charge for pets in a room with you.  The reason is simple, pets shed and it takes housekeepers a longer cleaning time per room to get the pet hair vacumned up and have the room ready for the next guest.  Don’t complain about the extra charge, after all, extra guests get charged and again, pets are people too!

Tropical Fish – Soothing For Home And Office

Adding a fish tank to your business can help calm employees as well as customers.  It makes a fabulous focal point and has a positive influence on everybody.  You can opt for a freshwater fish tank with a good number of diverse types of tropical fish such as tetras, barbs and sharks along with intriguing inhabitants like snails, or think about a saltwater aquarium which has beautifully colored tropical fish although is quite a bit harder to care for.

If you are an enthusiastic aquarist, or a coworker is, you can keep expenses reduced with in house care, but if no one is interested there are a lot of business who will take care of your fish tank for a small fee.  This way you know your tank will always look vibrant.

So, not only is the fish tank appealing to look it, it can lessen stress.  Happy workers are more productive workers!
