A few days ago, we decided to surprise our son with a new puppy for his twelfth birthday. Our son had been asking for a pet several years ago, but we didn’t feel that he could handle the responsibility of taking care of a pet back then. I told my son that he would be completely responsible for the dog’s care. It would be his responsibility to take his puppy for walks, play with it, feed it, and train it. My wife purchased a couple of dog training books to help our son carry out his responsibility.
