Fight The Allergy The Natural Way

Pets and allergies are unfortunately a common combination. If the allergy problem is not too uncomfortable – why not first try some natural allergy remedies?
Approximately one out of every ten Americans suffers from allergies of some type – including many pet owners. Allergies are the body’s natural reaction to any foreign substance. When the body encounters one of these substances, it produces many different substances, including histamines. Once released into the body, these cause tissue swellings called allergies.

Allergies can affect many different parts of the body including the lungs, skins, nasal passages, sinuses, and stomach. Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include intestinal pain, bloating, mood swings, exhaustion, throat swelling, difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, swelling or bloating of the skin, watery eyes, itchy nose, and sneezing.

How About Training Your Dog

An article about Training Your Dog

The following spouting is directed at the less thoughtful human—you who have a pet you leave alone for ten hours a day, not to romp happily on acres of woodlands but to stay practically immobile, tethered as it is to a limiting post or trapped as he or she is within the confines of a cage no bigger, proportionately, than a bathroom is for a human. How about, that is, training your dog…instead of punishing it for your limited capabilities to “own” a dog? Learn more about Training Your Dog

All you need to know about Cat Grooming

This is an article about Cat Grooming

Grooming a cat is very important. This process helps remove loose hair from your cat’s body. Without brushing, a lot of this hair would have ended up in your cat’s stomach. Since hair is not easily digestible, it often forms hairballs. While cats can sometimes cough up hairballs, they can clog the intestinal tract, as well. In addition, grooming can remove dirt and debris from your cat’s coat. It is also a great opportunity to check for fleas and ticks. Read more about Cat Grooming

Handling Those Pesky Pests

In most homes, like mine, you’ve probably encountered a pest or two, at one time or another. If you haven’t, you’re one of those few lucky ones who will never have to go through the drama of putting a check on those pests.

So far I’ve owned two homes and both required me to purchase some pest control supplies. Yes, you heard me! I did say pest control supplies. Now what exactly constitutes a pest? Sure, we all know that our kids can be rather irksome at times, but would you actually consider them pests? Probably not!

When I think of pests, I think of insects and rodents. After all, none of us typically appreciate a mosquito puncturing our skin and leaving its venom behind, or a flea nibbling at our house pets. This is why pest control supplies were invented. It’s time to do something about those pesky bugs and vermin.

The Art of Training Your Dog

When our next-door neighbour, from hell, locks his poor black labrador puppy in a four by six cage and goes off on his truck driving job, leaving the poor dog for ten hours a day, the dog begins to bark – Woof… woof… woof.. woof.. woof… all day long.

The dog barks at everything, from noises, at footsteps of people inside their own homes, at sirens, at birds. He barks out of loneliness, out of frustration, out of anxiety, and out of fear. Occasionally he barks to protect his territory, pitiful as it is with its leftover poop, a water bowl turned over, and a single ratty chew toy. Dear clueless human, have you ever heard of something called dog-training books?

Effective Communication With Your Dog

Unlike humans, dogs are pack animals and hence it is important to understand that they are always aware of their position in the pack. This pack will encompass you, your family, other pets and of course all the dogs in the household.

The Alpha dog or pack leader is seen by your dog as the leader and protector of the whole pack, and it is therefore crucial that you take on this role. Your dog will be healthier and happier if it feels secure in it’s pack, knowing that his leader is doing their job and keeping everyone safe.

The first step to doing this is to know which signals your dog will understand. You will need to consistently communicate “alpha signals” to your dog in a compassionate and respectful way. This does not mean being aggressive, overbearing or bullying your dog but learning the language that a dog understands and using the correct signals.

Mixed signals and inconsistency will confuse your dog and makes him think that the pack leader is ineffective. Your dog will feel burdened to try to take over as alpha to stabilise the pack. If he does this, it is not because he is being “bad”, but that you have given him the wrong signals.

So what are these signals and how do you communicate with them effectively? Firstly….

A Personalized Cat Collar for Kitty!

I used to hate cats.  Okay, so may that’s too stronger word but I certainly didn’t have a lot of time for them let alone want one as a pet. This all changed though when I moved out to the countryside. You see, I live close to a farm and where there are farms, there are cats. Needless to say, I get a lot of feline visitors every day but none of these roaming felines wear a cat collar because they are kind of freelance pets.
